MYSQL PERFORMANCE
MySQL Monitoring with Query and Connection Context
Use selected MySQL observations to investigate connection pressure and running queries alongside application traces. Begin with a small pilot and verify the measurements your account can actually see.
Guided pilot scope · Reviewed 2026-10-16. No production AI diagnosis, automatic infrastructure/DDL remediation or compliance certification is offered.
Which measurements are collected?
SHOW GLOBAL STATUS provides Threads_connected, Threads_running, Questions, slow-query and buffer-pool counters. information_schema.PROCESSLIST provides selected active statements and lock-state observations. Instance capacity is read from max_connections.
- Observed connection usage and active threads.
- Statement-counter deltas and selected running-query ages.
- Buffer-pool counters and the product's derived ratio.
- Concurrent blocked-session observations and cumulative lock-wait totals.
How to interpret the numbers
MySQL QPS uses the change in Questions divided by elapsed seconds. That differs from the transaction-based PostgreSQL rate. A cumulative lock-wait counter describes history; a blocked-session count describes the current observation.
Visibility depends on the connected account's permissions. Polling may miss short-lived events, and some collector fields use defaults on absent evidence. Read status, source and freshness together rather than treating every zero as healthy.
Connecting the evidence
Register a tenant-owned target reachable from the server or configure the Node.js agent with a MySQL connection. The collector uses a small pool. Verify that the target becomes online and useful readings arrive.
Instrumented application spans can identify SQL operations and table names when those attributes are exported. Explicit identifiers offer stronger linkage than similar timestamps. A trace or query observation is not an automatic missing-index diagnosis.
Schema review and deployment boundaries
The separate schema workflow captures the database configured on the target. Its reader supports MySQL 8.0.13 and newer; retained Docker acceptance used MySQL 8.4. MariaDB and a blanket guarantee for every managed MySQL variant are outside the current validation.
Current database polling TLS configuration needs further implementation and verification. Agree network and encryption requirements first. Keep credentials in protected configuration and redact sensitive SQL, logs and trace attributes before export.
Frequently asked questions
Can Spekra monitor every MySQL-compatible managed service?
Do not assume compatibility from the name alone. Validate the actual engine/version, network path, TLS requirements and available monitoring views during the pilot.
Does the collector inspect all application rows?
Its monitoring queries target status and process information rather than business tables. Active SQL and operational identifiers can still be sensitive, so collection and export policies need review.
Can Spekra fix a blocking transaction automatically?
No supported production workflow automatically kills sessions or changes database configuration. Engineers inspect evidence and use their normal approved operating process.
